Screenprinting Intensive

Okay, so I did a screenprinting intensive at the Olio Artists and Workers Cooperative here in Victoria. I don’t know anything about screenprinting, so that made it…intense. Lots of information for four classes, but I found it really interesting.

We started by selecting an image that we wanted to print. I tried to copy a single speed bike from 183rd St Cycles in NYC that I’ve been admiring for awhile. Here are some nice pics of one person’s build. Here’s my drawing:

And at the end of it all, after the instructor Joey cleaned up the image in Photoshop, and helped me create layers, here’s what I came up with:

The class was enough to make me realize that as with every other artistic medium, the possibilities are endless and you could spend a lifetime enhancing and improving your skills. I don’t think I’ll be doing more screenprinting anytime soon, but I am glad I took the class. Thanks Joey!
